A Wordpress plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites.
WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. They make it easier for users to add features to their website without knowing a single line of code.
There are thousands of WordPress plugins available for free at the official WordPress plugin directory. Aside from free plugins, there are amazing premium ones available from third-party companies and developers. In general. the latter offer more features than free plugins

Post Type Switcher plugin adds a simple post-type drop-down to the post editor interface, allowing you to reassign any post to a new post type. It allows you to switch post’s type while editing your post.
The plugin can convert nearly every combination of posts, pages, and even custom post types:

Supported Types:
    • Page to Post
    • Post to Page
    • Page to Custom
    • Custom to Page
    • Post to Custom
    • Custom to Post

We find this plugin useful went we wish to use Gutenber Block Editor, which is currently not supported in Custom Post Types. Switching to a post or page makes this feature available. Switching back when finished resorts the CPT, at the same time preserving the HTML

One word of caution. Some users have reported this plugin ‘locks up’ their website. It has happened to us in the sense that some menu links could not be accessed. However, the issue was resolved by:

accessing the Permalinks Settings  > changing to “Plain” > Saving > changing to “Post name” > Saving a second time,

the problem was resolved.

☕ TIP:  When not using this utility, deactivate the plugin.

This is a free WordPress plugin. 🙂
